Drop Drop Nail Paint Prototype # 307

* I purchased this *

I put out a request awhile ago on a nail FB group asking for some indies with exceptional customer service (feel free to throw out some names!). One of the suggestions from someone was a brand called Drip Drop Nail Paint. I hadn't heard of them before so I checked them out. While on their website, I found that they offered a grab bag of 3 full sized random prototype polishes for $12. That seemed like a ridiculous deal so you better believe I was on that like white on rice. Today I have prototype #307 to show you today

This polish has a sky blue base with very slight grey and green undertones. There's also the addition of blue and purple micro glitters with what I think is a smattering of holo. Squeeeee, sounds amazing!

Artificial light

Swatches show two thick coats of prototype #307 and one coat of fast dry top coat. Formula was thick in the easily spreadable way. I had no issues with dragging, balding, or pooling. I didn't test dry time as I immediately slapped some top coat on that bad boy.

I really enjoy this polish and I thought I was pretty lucky to get sent this polish randomly. Now for the down side, because this is a prototype, you can't just go onto the website and pick it up. However, given the quick shipping and exceptional formula, I definitely suggest checking out Drip Drop Nail Paint to see if anything tickles your fancy. If you do, lemme know what you think!

Well that's all for today, see you next time for more FrankenFemme goodness! But until then, remember to keep it classy and creative :)

Ethereal *pic heavy*

Hello my dears! Here we are at another Monday and you know what I spent my weekend doing? Nothing. I did nothing and it was pretty much the best thing ever. This was the first weekend that I didn't go in to work and get extra stuff done. While I might regret it this week, it was totally worth it.  Did anyone else do anything fun?

So, for today's polish, I'm actually kind of obsessed

This holo multi chrome goodness started with TKB Luster base with 3 drops of thinned out TKB Black Nail Polish Colorant added in. Next, I added 3 drops of size 14 Spectraflair in base from Spectraflair4u. Finally, I added 2 small scoops of purple/blue/green multi chrome glitter from Misfits on 8th.

The first group of swatches are done in natural sunlight, and then in artificial light.

Swatches show two thick coats plus fast dry top coat. However, even without the topcoat, the polish was relatively smooth. The color changing glitter was very obvious in artificial and low lighting while the holo was drop dead linear in the sun. Be-yoo-tee-FULL. I love it. I actually did my nails using this franken while I was visiting in  Colorado and a friend who saw the polish all but forced me to do her nails too. I'm telling you friends, this may be a full size bottle franken. I see myself using this baby a lot.

Well that's all for Ethereal, hope to see you around next time for more polish awesomeness! But until then, remember to keep it classy and creative!

Stump the Femme - Jay and Silent Bob

Moving on in this week's Stump the Femme series, we have Jay and Silent Bob. Jay and Silent Bob are a highly offensive (albeit hilarious) duo of characters that frequent Kevin Smith films (Kevin Smith also happens to be Silent Bob). Now what are these totally righteous dudes famous for in their movies? Being straight up stoners. Yup, that's it. Please note that I do not condone the use of illegal drugs but it is amusing to watch in a fiction setting. See if you can figure out the inspiration for today's polish!

This baby started off with TKB Glamour Base, I then added one small drop of TKB black nail polish colorant, one large size drop of Vanti805 green colorant, one small scoop of TKB Seawithc Green Reflecks, one small scoop of Aisha Gold shiner (which is a duo chrome that shifts from a gold to green similar to Chanel Peridot), 3 drops of Spectraflair size 14 from Spectraflair4u, and one small scoop of .015 lime holo from YouMix

Full Sunlight

Indirect Light

Swatches show two thick coats and one coat of top coat. You guessed right, the inspiration was weed, really, how could it be anything else with Jay and Silent Bob? So this is the linear holo weed colored goodness.  Formula is super easy and self levels like a champ! There is a very subtle shift in the polish that comes from the Aisha Gold shimmer. This one is another hit with me. Partially because it's kind of similar to another polish I made. Eh, whatever.

So, that's all for Jay and Silent Bob, see you around for the final installment of Stump the Femme. Lemme warn you, this one is weird! But until then, remember to keep it classy and creative!

Stump the Femme - Fern Gully

Ahhhhh the nostalgia! Today's Stump the Femme winner is Fern Gully and I could not be more thrilled. I wanted to BE Crysta growing up as a kid. I would totally get down with my acting chops pretending I was flitting through the forest with Batty (voiced by Robin Williams). I was definitely a dork growing up; but I was a forest fairy dork so it was all good.

Anywho, let's check out today's interpretation of the movie Fern Gully shall we?

As always, I started this polish with TKB Glamour Base. Next I added 2-3 drops of Vanti 805 green base. Then, I added two small scoops of .008 green holo hex from YouMix, one small scoop of .015 lime green holo hex from YouMix, one small scoop Misfits on 8th purple/blue/green multi chrome glitter, one small scoop Misfits on 8th red/blue/purple multi chrome glitter, and one small scoop of Glitter Unique's .004 shifting rainbow hex.

My thought process behind this was to create a predominantly forest green color and then use the multi chrome and iridescent glitters to represent the sun peeking through the trees and hitting the tropical multi colored flowers. I kind of love it. Swatches show two thick coats. The green is super saturated and the glitter spread relatively easily. However, due to the high glitter content, the formula was a little thick, but still super easy to control.  Swatches show one thick coat of top coat and the polish itself was actually much smoother than I thought it would be.

Well that's all for Fern Gully. What do you think? Hit or miss?

Hope everyone has a wonderful day and see you back next time for another installment of Stump the Femme! But until then, remember to keep it classy and creative!

Graffiti

Hump daaaaaay! Hope everyone's week has been going well! Let me tell you, I am super excited to be back at work! By excited I mean the opposite of that…. yeah…. I'm pretty sure I'm going to need a vacation from my vacation. But enough of my complaining, let's get to today's awesome glitter topper shall we?

This polish started with TKB Glamour Base. Then, I added 2 medium scoops of silver holo shreds,  and two small scoops each of .008 black holo hex and fire red hex (all from Glitter Unique)

Forgot to get a good bottle shot…. soooooo I got this one. Oopsies.

Swatches show one coat over Monday's Snow Globe franken plus fast dry top coat. The polish was thick due to the glitter but spread super easily on the nail. The shreds did require SOME placement, but it was pretty minimal. Everything was relatively smooth after one coat of top coat. This top coat was super sparkly and all the holo caught the light and it was amazing!

Well that's all for today my dears! See you back next time for more franken creations! But until then, remember to keep it classy and creative!

Snow Globe

Back to another beginning of the week! I am flying back home today since our week long vacation is over, albeit too quickly. So while I am not super stoked to be returning to work, I am pretty excited about this polish, even if it didn't turn out exactly like I'd hoped.

Since the concept is widely unattainable, I attempted to make a white linear holo, but I did mine with a little flair. I started this polish off with TKB Glamour Base, I then added one medium scoop of TKB Noble sparks (which are a silvery white shimmer), 4 drops of thinned out TKB White Nail Polish Colorant, one medium scoop Glitter Unique Rainbow Pearl Tiny Flakes (which are predominantly white but flash colors of blue, red, purple, and gold in the right lighting), and finally, 6 drops Spectraflair4u size 14 w/ base.

The last photo is probably the most accurate in terms of color. Due to the fact that the Spectraflair is grey, it casts a light grey into the white base. Therefore, this polish is walking the very fine line between white and a very light grey. However, it's close enough to white that I am happy with the base color. Plus, the linear holo and the teeeeeeeeny tiny multicolored flakies make this polish so complex. The last pic shows a little of the flakies but my camera did not want to pick up on their multi colored goodness. Now for the formula, not gonna lie it was kind of a pain in the butt. If I did not polish carefully, the polish would pull up in places if I went over it twice with my brush. I do understand that it was probably my fault as I tried to load all the pigment and flakies I could into it. I think a little bit of thinner would go a long way in this baby. That being said, swatches show two coats plus fast dry top coat.

Well, that's all for today my dears! Hope you have an easy start to your week! See you next time for more franken goodness! But until then, remember to keep it classy and creative!

North Star

So I'm completely beating myself up because I missed the blood moon that was visible here the other night in the US. Did anyone catch it? The pictures look amaaaazing! Instead, I guess I will just have the night sky on my nails (though I know that is not NEARLY as cool!)

This polish started off with TKB Luster base followed by 4 thinned out drops of TKB Black Nail Polish colorant. Next, I added one small scoop of TKB Turquoise Tweak Reflecks, one medium scoop .004 purple hex from Glitter Unique, and finally, 2 medium scoops Glitter Unique Mini Holo Stars.

Swatches show three coats plus fast dry top coat. As for the formula, this one did require a little more….. finesse? The mini holo stars are lovely and I hoped they would be easier to get out of a polish bottle given the smaller size. The good news? They are a little easier. The bad news? They are still kind of a pain in the butt and require a little work to get them out of the bottle and place them on the nail. Given that I make all my frankens in mini bottles, it would likely be easier to get stars like these out of full sized bottles. Not only that, but the stars are heavier and do tend to migrate south. This is easily fixed by a quick roll of the polish bottle in your hand but I know a good bit of you would not think this was worth the trouble.

Overall, this is the song Twinkle Twinkle Little Star personified. However, if  were to use it again, I would probably just do one or two quick coats over black. I dig it, I just think it can be tweaked a bit.

Well that's all for today my loves. I will be announcing the Stump the Femme winners on Friday so stay tuned! But until then, remember to keep it classy and creative!

Hidden Treasure

Hello loves! Monday already? Where does the time go? We spent our weekend in Orlando visiting friends, so it's always hard to return from the land of the magical Mouse (hint, his name may or may not rhyme with Nikki!). It was nice to get out of town for a bit and just enjoy the nice mind clearing effect that has. Staying in a hotel shaped like a castle didn't hurt either…. :)

So while it was pretty difficult to come back from a great weekend, at least I have an awesome pretty to help shoulder some of the burden!

Lapis Lazuli

Hello my friends! Hopefully you had a wonderful weekend! Mine was great for the most part but due to a change in my medications, I've been having an increase in migraine headaches. I had one today so I am going to keep this post short and sweet (like me! heh)

I call this bad boy lapis lazuli, mostly because it was the closest thing I could think of for how it looks; and honestly, it kind of doesn't even look like that. Hel-lo lack of creativity!

This polish started with TKB Glamour base. Next I followed it up with one small scoop each of TKB Her Majesty and Turquoise Tweak Reflecks. Next, I added on medium scoop of Glitter Unique Black Opal Mix with all it's black and iridescent goodness. Next, I added one small scoop of Glitter Unique .004 Periwinkle hexes. Finally, I finished it off with 6 drops of Spectraflair4u's size 14 holo for some awesome linear dimension!

Rest easy friend, you do NOT need glasses, it's just a terrible photo. But, it shows the holo!

I know it's hard to tell, but this polish is VERY linear and it throws some serious rainbows. Swatches show three coats plus fast dry top coat. Despite the glitter, the polish spread like a boss and was smoother than I thought it would be. I love how it is so easy to see both the glitter and the holo making it a double whammy of sorts!

Well that's all for today my friends, see you back next time with more franken awesomeness and (hopefully) less migraine pain in the butt-ness! But until then, remember to keep it classy and creative!

Alchemy Lacquers Review - Snowberry

* This polish was purchased by  me *

Hello my friends! I ended up taking the rest of the week off from blogging. The last post was surprisingly difficult for me; so between that and a couple migraines, I was out of commission for a bit. But, I am back and refreshed! Hope everyone had a great weekend. Anyone been keeping up with the Walking Dead? If so, what did you think of the season finale last night?

So for today's pretty, I bring you another Alchemy Lacquer (sick of them yet? Didn't think so!) This lovely lady is called Snowberry

This gorgeous polish has a silver foil base with multiple sizes of medium blue holo hexes. All swatches show two thick coats plus fast dry top coat to speed up dry time. The finish to this was surprisingly smooth even without top coat.

Full sun

Check out the shiny foil goodness and the way it plays with the blue holo, gah, I lurrrrve it! This is not one of those polishes that needs full sun to keep it complex. Fomula was buttery smooth and easily spreadable. Seriously, perfection.

Well, that's all for Snowberrt, check it out the next time you check out Alchemy Lacquers at their shop, onInstagram, or on their Facebook! (However, the shop may be temporarily closed to prepare for the Spring line)
