Candy Corn - Possibly the worst thing I've made…ever...

Hello my loves! Hopefully your Thanksgiving was wonderful (for those of you that celebrated it!) As I predicted, I was on those sides dishes like white on rice… or cranberry sauce…. or, whatever. All I know was it was a deliciously awesome day :)

That being said, let's move on to this week's failure….erm…polish. I made this one on my blogging hiatus and decided to post about it because I want to make sure I can keep my blog as real as possible. I made this polish around Halloween so I got my inspiration from candy corn. I started with about 3/4 of a mini bottle's worth of TKB Luster Base. I then added about 6-8 drops of TKB Gloss White colorant (which I had thinned with a little bit of polish thinner as it is super thick and opaque). Next, I added one small scoop of .008 Matte Peach Hexes from Glitter Unique, one small scoop of Misfits on 8th Gold Flecks, 2 medium scoops of .040 matte lemon yellow dots also from Glitter Unique, and one small to medium scoop of green glow from Misfits on 8th. Mixed together, I created a white crelly with candy corn colored glitters, and green glow. Check it out

Terrible photo, cool glow!

Ok, time to get real here folks. THIS. POLISH. SUCKED. Swatches show 3 dabbled coats and one coat of top coat. These dots had a tendency to sink in this polish. Now sink is putting it nicely, I really mean these things dropped faster than me in my turkey coma (trust me, that's fast). I had to tip this polish upside down after every nail before polishing. You multiply that by 3 coats and that equals a whole lot of frustration! Now, I'm not writing these dots off completely as I think using it in a polish with powder pigments might help the sinking issue (thus making the base a bit thicker). The rest of the polish was fine. The smaller peach glitters spread easily and the glow was nice and strong after being charged for about 20 seconds.

Let me know what you think! Would you give this polish another chance?

That is all for today's franken fail, see you next time for some more polish awesomeness! But until then, remember to keep it classy and creative!

xo

  1. I totally understand the frustration factor (my last franken had that same problem) but even your fails end up looking pretty cool. I love the idea of it. Too bad the glitters were so troublesome.

    1. Thanks for your words of consolation, lol. Good thing is I'm just as stubborn as this polish :)
