Final YouMix Glitter Review: The Solvent Testing Showdown!

Ok ladies, because I know you have been sitting on the edge of your seat for this one

I have the results of the YouMix samples glitter testing. If you remember, I have showed you quite a few samples that were sent by Amber from YouMix here, here, and here. To echo what I told you earlier, solvent testing (or placing your potential glitters in a suspension base to see if they bleed or curl) is super important for those who make your own polish and especially if you sell them to ultimately help predict the outcome of a polish. So without further ado, I give you the results of my YouMix Solvent testing! Keep in mind, these have been sitting in suspension base for about 3 weeks ish.
From left to right we have the Magenta Holo Hex in the .032 and .015 sizes, the Matte Hot Pink Squares .035 and .025 and Hexes in .040 and .015, the Death by Glitter Mix, the Mad for Matte Mix, the Sour Candy Mix, and finally, the Surf and Turf Mix

Now the best way to test the glitter quality? Using it on a white base. Any bleeding colors in the base will easily show up this way. Let's have a looksie!

Magenta Holo, Hot Pink, Death By Glitter

Made for Matte, Sour Candy, Surf and Turf

Good news is there was absolutely no curling and the glitter colors seemed pretty steadfast. There MIGHT have been some very very minimal bleeding in the Hot Pinks, Death By Glitters, Sour Candy, and Surf and Turf Glitters however, I honestly think it could equally be my eye playing tricks on me (I also think that TKB places a very small amount of violet tint in their suspension base so keep that in mind). EDIT: AFTER GOING BACK AND CHECKING THE GLITTERS, I AM THOROUGHLY CONVINCED THAT ANY COLOR SEEN IN THE BASE COLOR IS LIKELY FROM THE SUSPENSION BASE AND NOT FROM BLEEDING GLITTERS. All in all I am very pleased with these glitters and have already used them in quite a few of my creations!

Be sure to find YouMix online and check out their awesome glitter selection. They recently revamped their website to make it more user friendly and added some more glitters!

  1. That's great! But it doesn't look like any of them are bleeding to me?

    1. I'm really starting to think that it's more than likely just the violet tinted base.

  2. I have been using those same mattes(from another source) for over a year and none of them bleed. I do see curling on those metallics(magenta) though....

    1. I went back and checked the magentas to be sure and I'm thinking it might be that the holo makes the glitter looks like it's curling. I didn't notice anything up close. That's good news for the mattes though! I haven't been able to do any long term testing on them yet. Thanks!
