A Franken Farewell
Hello my lovelies! Today's post is one that I have been struggling with and contemplating for awhile; months in fact. So, after giving it ALOT of thought, I have decided to close up shop here at the FrankenFemme blog. I still am a polish girl through and through but I feel like my priorities have changed (due to my hectic personal life/blog related problems) and it's not fair to string anyone along when my heart is just not in it anymore. I truly cherish all the lovely ladies I have met along the way. You can bet I will still be around to bug you on your blogs ;^) Also, I have decided that I will still be around on IG so find me there if you wanna. Just a word of warning, that account with include personal photos, nail art, polish, AND frankens. But either way, I would love to keep in touch with you! I will also keep my blog up and my e-mail active for awhile in case you have any questions or just want to say hello!
I wish everyone nothing but the best in your polish (and life) endeavours and if you take nothing from this blog, just remember to always keep it classy and creative!

Drop Drop Nail Paint Prototype # 307
* I purchased this *
I put out a request awhile ago on a nail FB group asking for some indies with exceptional customer service (feel free to throw out some names!). One of the suggestions from someone was a brand called Drip Drop Nail Paint. I hadn't heard of them before so I checked them out. While on their website, I found that they offered a grab bag of 3 full sized random prototype polishes for $12. That seemed like a ridiculous deal so you better believe I was on that like white on rice. Today I have prototype #307 to show you today
This polish has a sky blue base with very slight grey and green undertones. There's also the addition of blue and purple micro glitters with what I think is a smattering of holo. Squeeeee, sounds amazing!
Artificial light
Swatches show two thick coats of prototype #307 and one coat of fast dry top coat. Formula was thick in the easily spreadable way. I had no issues with dragging, balding, or pooling. I didn't test dry time as I immediately slapped some top coat on that bad boy.
I really enjoy this polish and I thought I was pretty lucky to get sent this polish randomly. Now for the down side, because this is a prototype, you can't just go onto the website and pick it up. However, given the quick shipping and exceptional formula, I definitely suggest checking out Drip Drop Nail Paint to see if anything tickles your fancy. If you do, lemme know what you think!
Well that's all for today, see you next time for more FrankenFemme goodness! But until then, remember to keep it classy and creative :)

Ethereal *pic heavy*
Hello my dears! Here we are at another Monday and you know what I spent my weekend doing? Nothing. I did nothing and it was pretty much the best thing ever. This was the first weekend that I didn't go in to work and get extra stuff done. While I might regret it this week, it was totally worth it. Did anyone else do anything fun?
So, for today's polish, I'm actually kind of obsessed
So, for today's polish, I'm actually kind of obsessed
This holo multi chrome goodness started with TKB Luster base with 3 drops of thinned out TKB Black Nail Polish Colorant added in. Next, I added 3 drops of size 14 Spectraflair in base from Spectraflair4u. Finally, I added 2 small scoops of purple/blue/green multi chrome glitter from Misfits on 8th.
The first group of swatches are done in natural sunlight, and then in artificial light.
Swatches show two thick coats plus fast dry top coat. However, even without the topcoat, the polish was relatively smooth. The color changing glitter was very obvious in artificial and low lighting while the holo was drop dead linear in the sun. Be-yoo-tee-FULL. I love it. I actually did my nails using this franken while I was visiting in Colorado and a friend who saw the polish all but forced me to do her nails too. I'm telling you friends, this may be a full size bottle franken. I see myself using this baby a lot.
Well that's all for Ethereal, hope to see you around next time for more polish awesomeness! But until then, remember to keep it classy and creative!

Stump the Femme - The Elephant Man
Ok ok, I'll admit it. This one had me STUMPED. First because I had never seen this movie (for the record it is about a man with physical deformities trying to make it through life wanting to be normal) and second, how do I turn a concept like that into a presentable polish?!?! Welp, I cheated. THERE I SAID IT! I couldn't very well make a fug polish to show you guys! Therefore, I made a polish and used it in a concept mani. But first, let's start with the franken shall we?
For the record, here is a pic of the main character. See that and understand my plight!
As for the franken, I started with Misfits on 8th matte base. Next, I added 3 drops of a thinned out Vanti 805 brown colorant. I then followed it up with 2 drops of TKB's franken white polish colorant. Finally, I added 2 small scoops each of Gold Flakies and Sparkling Taupe Micro Flakies from Glitter Unique
Now, for the concept mani….. I'm kind of nervous to show you guys! Lol
So, I started this mani by attaching some small circular rhinestones and neon studs to my bare nail in a random fashion using clear polish. Then, because I wanted to get rid of the neon color of the stud, I applied two coats of white polish. I finished the mani off with two generous coats of the Elephant Man polish to give the look of skin tone with bumps and deformities. Crazy, right?
For the record, here is the same polish top coated. Looks so different!
The topcoat definitely helps the flakies and the shimmer stand out more. Personally, I prefer it top coated. Formula was super easy though and didn't drag with the thick coats I used. It was opaque at 2 coats for me. Dry time was average to quick as mattes often are.
Well, there you have it, my crazy Elephant Man mani! What do you think? I don't think I could ever rock this again honestly, lol. Either way I hope you liked it and I also hope to see you around next time for more polish adventures! But until then, remember to keep it classy and creative!

Stump the Femme - Jay and Silent Bob
Moving on in this week's Stump the Femme series, we have Jay and Silent Bob. Jay and Silent Bob are a highly offensive (albeit hilarious) duo of characters that frequent Kevin Smith films (Kevin Smith also happens to be Silent Bob). Now what are these totally righteous dudes famous for in their movies? Being straight up stoners. Yup, that's it. Please note that I do not condone the use of illegal drugs but it is amusing to watch in a fiction setting. See if you can figure out the inspiration for today's polish!
This baby started off with TKB Glamour Base, I then added one small drop of TKB black nail polish colorant, one large size drop of Vanti805 green colorant, one small scoop of TKB Seawithc Green Reflecks, one small scoop of Aisha Gold shiner (which is a duo chrome that shifts from a gold to green similar to Chanel Peridot), 3 drops of Spectraflair size 14 from Spectraflair4u, and one small scoop of .015 lime holo from YouMix
Full Sunlight
Indirect Light
Swatches show two thick coats and one coat of top coat. You guessed right, the inspiration was weed, really, how could it be anything else with Jay and Silent Bob? So this is the linear holo weed colored goodness. Formula is super easy and self levels like a champ! There is a very subtle shift in the polish that comes from the Aisha Gold shimmer. This one is another hit with me. Partially because it's kind of similar to another polish I made. Eh, whatever.
So, that's all for Jay and Silent Bob, see you around for the final installment of Stump the Femme. Lemme warn you, this one is weird! But until then, remember to keep it classy and creative!

Stump the Femme - Fern Gully
Ahhhhh the nostalgia! Today's Stump the Femme winner is Fern Gully and I could not be more thrilled. I wanted to BE Crysta growing up as a kid. I would totally get down with my acting chops pretending I was flitting through the forest with Batty (voiced by Robin Williams). I was definitely a dork growing up; but I was a forest fairy dork so it was all good.
Anywho, let's check out today's interpretation of the movie Fern Gully shall we?
Anywho, let's check out today's interpretation of the movie Fern Gully shall we?
As always, I started this polish with TKB Glamour Base. Next I added 2-3 drops of Vanti 805 green base. Then, I added two small scoops of .008 green holo hex from YouMix, one small scoop of .015 lime green holo hex from YouMix, one small scoop Misfits on 8th purple/blue/green multi chrome glitter, one small scoop Misfits on 8th red/blue/purple multi chrome glitter, and one small scoop of Glitter Unique's .004 shifting rainbow hex.
My thought process behind this was to create a predominantly forest green color and then use the multi chrome and iridescent glitters to represent the sun peeking through the trees and hitting the tropical multi colored flowers. I kind of love it. Swatches show two thick coats. The green is super saturated and the glitter spread relatively easily. However, due to the high glitter content, the formula was a little thick, but still super easy to control. Swatches show one thick coat of top coat and the polish itself was actually much smoother than I thought it would be.
Well that's all for Fern Gully. What do you think? Hit or miss?
Hope everyone has a wonderful day and see you back next time for another installment of Stump the Femme! But until then, remember to keep it classy and creative!
