Hello my loves and happy hump day! I thought I would take a break from the polish today to give you a peek into my set up for creating my polishes. Now I do understand that this could take the magic away from my polish (kind of like finding out your favorite actor is a complete douche in real life thus ruining every one of his movies EVER). So if that's you, I'd skip this post. For the rest of you, follow me *evil laughs*
This is more just a picture of my dog, Chance. Thought I'd sneak it in. He looks like he's in trouble but he's not. He's terrified of cameras so I try to sneak photos of him... guess I wasn't successful. Anyways, my boyfriend made this work bench with standard wood from the local hardware store. The plastic drawers are from Walmart
This is the small set of drawers sitting on top of my table and these are primarily dedicated to my glittters (holos up top, metallics/iridescents in the middle, mattes on the bottom). Up top is polish thinner, top coat, base coat, and a couple of polishes I'm supposed to see if I can tweak for someone else.
Drawer number one is my polish bases, mixing balls, scoops for pigment/glitter, and funnels for pouring. That awesome plastic organizer is also from Walmart
Now this ridiculous nonsense is my liquid colorant drawer which includes jelly color concentrate, metallic color concentrate, holo color concentrate, etc. And obviously, this is also where I store random bottles of other polish for colorant and Drugstore Digits purposes
This would be my pigment drawer which hold my powdered pigments, glass fleck micas, shimmers, glow in the dark pigments, thermal pigments, and holo pigments. Again, plastic tray is from Walmart
In this drawer are my boxes for polish bottles. Nothin special here, let's keep movin along
Here is the finished set up. Those ridiculous blinding lamps are placed in front of my light box where I take my photos.
Well that's all for today! Hopefully you aren't entirely disenchanted by my lack of magical powers involved in my frankening set up. Hope to see everyone back on Friday ready for the weekend and more franken awesomeness! Until then, remember to keep it classy and creative!
xo
What? No Tesla coils? I thought you'd at least have a Van de Graaff generator or something!! :P Now I know I could never be an evil franken genius...it requires too many trips to Wal-Mart.
ReplyDeleteActually, I enjoyed seeing your lab! And your dog is adorbs. :D
Thank you! Funny that you say that, today is actually Nikola Tesla's birthday! Sadly, while I requested Tesla coils, the FSU Magnet Labratory where my boyfriend works rejected said request. As for Walmart, it's always a good place to play a rousing game of "count the missing teeth" :)
DeleteHaha, very cool. I always wondered what it would be like to create polish. Your pup is adorable...even though he looks extremely concerned ;)
ReplyDeleteThank you! Chance has been my little furry soul mate ever since I adopted him, concerned face and all! :)
