So Ralph Waldo Emerson, being the brilliant man that he is, once said that, "The Earth laughs in flowers." I LOVE this quote. It helps remind you to stop every once in awhile and smell the flowers (oh yes, I went there!). That leads me today's creation. Though it's a very loose interpretation, this one reminds me of a field of gorgeous violet wildflowers glistening with dew in the early morning (man, I CLEARLY missed my calling as a writer ;^)). Check it out and tell me what you think!
I started this polish as usual, with about 3/4 of a mini bottle's worth of TKB Glamour base. I then followed it up with half of a scoop of TKB True Blue pigment (a bright midtoned blue with a slight sheen), a little more than one full scoop of TKB EZB 82nd Avenue pigment (a neon pink leaning magenta powder pigment), two scoops of .040 pastel green hexes from Nail Glitter Princess, and one scoop of .015 lime holo hex from You Mix Glitter. The result is a bright purple that leans blue with medium sheen and gorgeous contrasting glitter.
Like I said, a very loose interpretation, but I love it nonetheless, it's not a combination I've seen alot of in the polish world. It is very sheer and mostly buildable. I swatched the polish at 3 coats and there is still some minor visible nail line. The VNL is definitely not as apparent in real life but artifical lighting proves to be a manipulative broad and made it worse than it seems. I had no issues getting any of the glitters out of the bottle but there was some minor glitter settling so I shook it prior to use for good measure. The finish is a bit bumpy due to the glitter but it was nothing one coat of Sally Hansen Insta-Dry couldn't handle. This was a polish that I made prior to Halloween in the spirit of the holiday but honestly, it doesn't really strike me as a Halloween-esque polish. What do you think?
Well my loves, that is all I have for you today. If you have Monday off, have a wonderful and safe long weekend. If you don't have Monday off, I'm sorry :( But either way, I will see you back next week for more franken awesomeness! But until then, remember to keep it classy and creative!

ReplyDeleteI loved the color combination, they look perfect together :)
Thank you Tha! I don't think I expected to like this color combination as much as I did :)
DeleteOkay, your hiatus was apparently very good for you and us too! This is wonderful! I think this has become my new favorite design of yours. It's delicate and floral-looking but at the same time, the cool blue-purple would be lovely in winter. <3<3<3
ReplyDeleteI couldn't stand Ralph Waldo Emerson...did a term paper on him in 10th grade and really disliked the guy. But that is a nice quote. :D
Oooooh brilliant Melissa! I could take this base and mix it with iridescent glitter and make it super wintery as well. Thanks for the unintentional inspiration Ms. Muse! As for Emerson, I don't know too much about him outside of his works... maybe that's a good thing. Lol
DeleteReminding us all why we missed you so much. :) This is really pretty.
ReplyDeleteAwww shucks, thank you my dear! It feels nice to get back into the swing of things and dare I say it, even AHEAD of the swing of things! :)
