Alchemy Lacquers Review - Snowberry

Hello my friends! I ended up taking the rest of the week off from blogging. The last post was surprisingly difficult for me; so between that and a couple migraines, I was out of commission for a bit. But, I am back and refreshed! Hope everyone had a great weekend. Anyone been keeping up with the Walking Dead? If so, what did you think of the season finale last night? 

So for today's pretty, I bring you another Alchemy Lacquer (sick of them yet? Didn't think so!) This lovely lady is called Snowberry

This gorgeous polish has a silver foil base with multiple sizes of medium blue holo hexes. All swatches show two thick coats plus fast dry top coat to speed up dry time. The finish to this was surprisingly smooth even without top coat.

Full sun

Check out the shiny foil goodness and the way it plays with the blue holo, gah, I lurrrrve it! This is not one of those polishes that needs full sun to keep it complex. Fomula was buttery smooth and easily spreadable. Seriously, perfection.

Man, I'm having one of those sit down moments where I am at a loss for what to write. I just asked my fiancé for some help with the inspiration and he just told me to think of him, lol. This writer's block is kind of embarrassing… so rather than sit here and bask in my awkwardness, let's skip straight into today's franken!

This polish is very similar to the one from Monday in the way it was made. I started out with TKB Luster base and then added one medium scoop of Coastal Scents Antique Silver powder mica. Next, I added 3 small scoops of TKB Turquoise Tweak (Reflecks micro glitter). Finally, to help give it more dimension, I finished the polish off with 3/4 of a small scoop of Coastal Scents Crystal Blue (a white larger powdered mica with medium blue interference).

It's totally silver but then BAM, blue!

The Reflecks were spectacular at adding a bit of sparkle and a TON of dimension to the polish. I also real like that it pulled the antique silver color slightly blue. Swatches show two thick coats plus one coat of fast dry top coat. Despite the microglitter, the polish did dry surprisingly smooth. Top coat was just used for the speeding up process. The polish was easily spread and it self leveled on it's own. No pooling or dragging!

Hello my lacquered lovelies and happy humpday, what whaaaaaat! Not that you've asked for an update, but we've started the beginning phases of planning the wedding and so far we have settled on a cruise in mid 2015. I've never been on a cruise wedding so I'm super stoked! Have you ever been on one? It almost seems ridiculous to talk about a cruise with all that polar nonsense going on, but a girl can dream right?

Enough of my babbling…. for now, let's check out today'd franken!

I started off with 3/4 of a mini bottle's worth of TKB Luster Base. Then, I added one drop of TKB Black Nail Polish colorant to help tint the base. Next I added 2 medium scoops of Glitter Unique's GUn Metal Micro Falkies. Finally, I added 2 medium scoops of YouMix Glitter's Mad for Matter Mix

Teeeeeeny tiny flakies!

It's like a little glitter party on mah nails! The gun metal color of the base acts as a perfect contrast to the matte multicolored glitter. Swatches show three coats which were buttery smooth. Formula was manageably thick and easily spread. The mani was topped off with one coat of Glisten & Glow HK Girl top coat.

Hello my loves! Are you all recovered from your holiday comas? You're back just in time for New Years! Tidbit of knowledge on me, my boyfriend is a military brat and though he is hispanic, he spent a large chunk of his adolescence in Germany where his dad was stationed. He graduated from high school there and is now here in Florida with me. Well, he would always fly home for the holiday and would stay until a few days after New Year's. His parents are now stationed here stateside and do you know what that means? We get to spend our very FIRST New Year's Eve together... four and a half years later! Not going to lie, I am really stinkin excited :)

 So now that you know a little about me, how about finding out more about today's franken? I started out with about 3/4 of a mini bottle's worth of TKB Glamour base. Because I am a doofus, I'm not exactly sure how much I used, but I used a bit of TKB Magic Diamond Colorant (this is a bright silver metallic and HIGHLY sparkly liquid polish colorant). Finally, I added one small scoop each of Glitter Unique's .008 black holo and silver holo hexes.  Also, apparently I forgot to take a photo of the ingredients, I apologize!

 It looks like a dirty disco ball and I think that's awesome! It's so sparkly and seems like it might be perfect for a New Year's Mani! I love how all the little particles (not JUST the holo glitter) catch the light and sparkle. I love me some sparkly things that's for sure. You know, it kind of reminds me of Alchemy Lacquers Snowberry, but I like the Alchemy version way better. Formula needed 3 thick coats for opacity but that was also due to me thinning my Magic Diamond colorant a bit too much. Swatches also show top coat but it wasn't terribly gritty or anything like that.

Happy Sunday evening everyone! Hope the weekend was wonderful for you! I for one, took the initiative to reach for the stars and be as lazy as I could possibly be today. Thank goodness since I was already a pro, mission was easily accomplished :)

So today I bring you the last of my Misfits on 8th franken supply review, the dot glitters! If you remember I have already reviewed glow in the dark pigment, thermal pigment, and neon pigment/fleck. So without further ado, I bring you the dot glitters!

Here we have the Americuh! Mix (this is red, white, and blue dots with silver micro glitter), black matter, blue matte, forrest green matte, pink matte, pink metal, purple metal red matte, ruby red, silver, and white. I can honestly say that for my purposes thus far (which would be using TKB suspension base and testing the glitters for 2+ weeks), the glitter has not bled, dissolved, or curled. So that's great news! But also remember that glitters WILL react differently in different bases. I will say however, that some of the glitters do sink, so if you are selling your polishes commercially, make sure you inform your customers. It's nothing a little shaking won't cure! Dots are .078" in size so I would classify that as a good medium sized glitter. Well that's all for today my frankening lovers! I will see you back tomorrow for more awesome creations! Stump the Femme: Sun Beams Through Clouds

Happy Friday my friends and welcome to the end of another week! Hopefully everyone has something fun and relaxing planned. Anywho, today I bring you another installment of Stump the Femme! The winning idea for this go around is sun beams shining through the clouds. I loved this idea but it.was.tough.

I started off with half a bottle of TKB Luster base. I then added about 4-5 drops of Color Club Status Update, a dark slightly blue toned grey. To that I added one tiny scoop of TKB Luminosity glitter (for a bit of holo) and about 2-3 scoops of Glitter Unique Disco Mix! (a mix of holo silver and holo gold hexes and squares in different sizes). I wanted to try and demonstrate the shimmering multicolored light that shines through the grey clouds. I came up with this!

Formula wise, swatches show three coats. Leveling was easy, normal dry time. I was pretty pleased with way the glitter was suspended in the murky grey jelly; it really reminds me of the way the sun shines through the clouds. I think the only way I would change this interpretation is maybe throw some small bars in there to help signify sun rays. But I'm still happy. What do you guys think?

Robotic Rainbow

Hello my frankenettes (trying the nickname out, lol) and welcome to the start of another brand new week. I went ahead a scheduled a post in advance as I am supposed to be coming home from Savannah today and will probably be exhausted. Yeesh, I hope the trip didn't suck. So anyways, todays franken was something that was kind of created as an afterthought, a kind of, "hey I haven't tried this franken product yet let's see what it's about" and I ended up La-la-la-LOVING this polish. I actually chose to wear this as a mani for about 4 days which is absurd when I think about how much I change polish. I started off with TKB's Glamour base (about half a bottle's worth) and then decided to test out my TKB magic diamond base. I added that in until the bottle was was about 80% full. I then added some Luminosty glitter and a couple drops of Wet'n'Wild black cream to darken up the overall base a smidgen. The result was a holo foil, a FRIGGEN HOLO FOIL. Robotic Rainbow seemed like a PERFECT name for this...

Now, being that I have never used magic diamond before, I probably used too much. This baby was super pigmented and a little bit thick, but not unmanageably so. I could probably get away with using less, but what I made this go around was pretty much a one coater. INSANE. Self leveled well and dry time was average. I can't even tell you how much I love this polish, there is just so much going on without it being overwhelming.

Impromptu Valentine's Day Post for my REAL Valentines!

Just a super quick post to show you one of my attempts at nail art. I used a holo foil franken that will be going up on the blog next week as my base color. Next I taped off sections of my ring finger in a checkerboard pattern and painted the un-taped sections with my Raspberry Crush franken. I then free handed hearts using Zoya Blaze and an unfolded paper clip (no your eyes are not crooked, my heart is, meh). 2 coats of top coat and done!

Ladies, whether you are single or not, I hope you have a great day and remember that you are perfect the way you are ;) Hokie but true! And everyone rejoice, this also means that chocolate will go on sale tomorrow!

Dark Passenger

Welcome back my lovelies! I hope you had a wonderful weekend. Mine was spent playing some serious catch up on one of my favorite shows, Dexter. If you haven't seen it yet go watch it... right now... seriously, I'll wait. You'll thank me for this. Well in honor of the show I created a polish which I think kind of conveys the complexity of who Dexter is as a person. I call it, Dark Passenger. The dark base signifies Dexter's dark secret while the glitter throughout also highlights Dexter's than dark qualities, his love for his family and empathy for others. This polish was created by using TKB's Luster base as well as any black cream polish added drop by drop to desired opacity up to the bottle's halfway point. The remainder of the bottle was split evenly between Essie Luxe Effects Set in Stones and Wet 'n' Wild Fast Dry in The Gold & The Beautiful

Here is the polish in natural daylight. Pinkie finger shows 1 coat, the ring finger shows 2, the middle finger shows 3, and the pointer finger shows 4

Here we have the macro shot. Because the majority of the base is Luster Base, it gives the polish a great jelly finish which helps add to the complexity as you can see the glitters peeking out from the different coats.

Overall I was very please with the polish. It is not entirely smooth but its nothing top coat can't handle. We all know I dig Dexter, but I also totally dig this polish.
